Android Lollipop Features

Android L Develpment Preview.png
Android "Lollipop" Developer Preview
Android 5.0 introduces a refreshed notification system. Individual notifications are now displayed on cards to adhere to the material design language, and batches of notifications can be grouped by the app that produced them. Notifications are now displayed on the lock screen as cards, and "heads up" notifications can also be displayed as large banners across the top of the screen, along with their respective action buttons. A do-not-disturb feature is also added for notifications. The recent apps menu was redesigned to use a three-dimensional stack of cards to represent open apps. Individual apps can also display multiple cards in the recent menu, rather than only one entry per app; for example, a web browser can show all of its open tabs as individual cards.

Lollipop also contains major new platform features for developers, with over 5,000 new APIs added for use by applications. Additionally, the Dalvik virtual machine was officially replaced by Android Runtime (ART), which is a new runtime environment that was introduced as a technology preview in KitKat.[14] ART is a cross-platform runtime which supports the x86, ARM, and MIPS architectures in both 32-bit and 64-bit environments. Unlike Dalvik, which uses just-in-time compilation (JIT), ART compiles apps upon installation, which are then run exclusively from the compiled version from then on. This technique removes the processing overhead associated with the JIT process, improving system performance.

Lollipop also aims to improve battery consumption through a series of optimizations known as "Project Volta". Among its changes are a new battery saver mode, job scheduling APIs which can restrict certain tasks to only occur over Wi-Fi, and batching of tasks to reduce the overall amount of time that internal radios are active. The new developer tool called "Battery Historian" can be used for tracking battery consumption by apps while in use. The Android Extension Pack APIs also provide graphics functions such as newshaders, aiming to provide PC-level graphics for 3D games on Android devices.

A number of system-level, enterprise-oriented features were also introduced under the banner "Android for Work": Samsung contributed its Knox security framework for segregating personal and work-oriented data from each other on a device, along with accompanying APIs for managing the environment. Devices can also be configured so that users do not have to unlock their device with a PIN or pattern if it is within a trusted, physical location, or is in proximity to a user's Android Wear device. Device encryption will be enabled by default.

Lollipop rollout for 2014 Moto G, Moto X gets official

Earlier today, a source apparently had information about theupdate to Android 5.0 Lollipop already rolling out to unlocked Moto G (2014) units. Shortly after, we heard that this was in fact nothing more than a 'soak test', and not an actual widespread rollout.
Well, things are different now, as Motorola has just made it official: Lollipop updates for the 2nd generation Moto G are already going out. For now, they will reach those devices sold in the US - either the US-specific SKU or the "global GSM" model (though still purchased from the US). Undoubtedly, more regions will get the new software soon, now that the ball's rolling.
Joining this year's Moto G is the 2014 Moto X Pure Edition, which is also in the process of receiving its taste of Lollipop. This is the model that runs stock Android, so it's less surprising to see it in this position. The soak test for the Moto X (2014) started a few days ago, and apparently things went well and no bugs were found.
Last year, the original Moto X got the KitKat update incredibly fast, and this year Motorola is rolling out the new Android version even before past Nexus devices got it. This is quite an accomplishment in the Android world, where such things usually take months. LG is set to follow suit at some point this week, releasing the 5.0 update for its G3, and hopefully more manufacturers will choose to go the quick update route in the future.

Moto X (2nd Gen) REVIEWS

Key Features of Moto X (2nd Gen)

  • Android v4.4.4 (KitKat) OS
  • 2 MP Secondary Camera
  • 2 GB RAM
  • Dual Ring LED Flash
  • 2.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 MSM8974-AC Quad Core Processor
  • 5.2-inch Capacitive Touchscreen
  • 13 MP Primary Camera

motorola has had released previous versions for cheaper costs...but this phone is a priced a tad higher because what you are looking at is a flagship beast....
i have used it for almost a week now...

The BEST feature? Voice control. And what makes it even better is that you can personalize and custom name your assistant. So instead of saying "OK, Google" you can cal your phone whatever you want. I have named mine Athena. It was crazy awesome today morning when I woke up and I couldn't find my phone and I screamed "OK, Athena, TIME!" And the phone replied me back the time from somewhere under the blanket! Relieves me from a lot of frustration.
Also the wave facility is pretty cool. Just wave over the phone when it is locked and the active display will sow the time and all the essential details. You don't even have to touch it! Good speakers and sound. Touch is fluid and smooth.

Display is great. Full HD 1920 x 1080 AMOLED. I felt no lag whatsoever, with 2.5 GHz processor and a 2 GB RAM it is unlikely to happen anytime soon. I don't game much, so I can live with 16 GB internal memory, of which 10.56 B is available. Good enough, but I wish they included external memory card slot.

PROS:-
++5'2" DISPLAY (you'll just love it!)
++TOUCHLESS CONTROL (just make up your own launch phrase and bam!)
++DESIGN (premium feel...far better than most of the flagship phones out there)
++LIGHTNING FAST! (no lags!)
++PURE ANDROID (yes! it's a pro cos you are gonna get updates as soon as the latest android version is released!)
++SPEAKERS! (they are a bit LOUD than htc one m8)
++NOISE CANCELLING(you have four mics placed at different places for that!)
++SIZE(just fits in your hand...and your finger just sits on MOTO symbol at the back while holding)
++PREMIUM BUILD(aluminium framing around it and a custom back! doesn't get better!)

CONS:-
--BATTERY-moto should have gone for a better battery..but still not that big of an issue..(i have used it from 7:00am to 10:00 pm with 3g internet usage..a bit of gaming...etc.)

--STORAGE(16 gb is good enough for me but an sd card slot should've been included)

!NOTE!:-- if you are a avid gamer you may have to reconsider your decision... gaming experience is too good..but a lousy battery kills it off! :(

CAMERA...i wouldn't say it's a con..it's just good enough and not the best

OVERALL
regarding the speciality of this mobile
you have a seperate processor for processing your voice commands....gesture silencing of calls..and u need not unlock your phone to look at notifications..(moto activedisplay)
sensors placed in all the right places! ;)
just go for it! A UNIQUE SMARTPHONE!
it's time for you to say HELLO MOTO!! :) :D

BlackBerry Z10 REVIEWS

Key Features of BlackBerry Z10
  • 1.5 GHz Dual Core Processor
  • 4.2-inch Capacitive Touchscreen
  • 8 MP Primary Camera
  • Expandable Storage Capacity of 32 GB
  • Full HD Recording
  • Wi-Fi Enabled
  • BlackBerry 10 OS
  • 2 MP Secondary Camera

Very professional! That was the first comment I got when I showed the Z10 at work. This came from a senior no-nonsense enterprise IT architect who had a reputation for making high quality products himself.

This aspect should find appeal among many senior professionals who look to project a business-like image at work. For a person who has been using one or the other BB phone (keyboard type, read Curve) for a few years now, I think this is the only all-touch business phone I would have upgraded to anyway.
After using it for 4 days the phone is brilliant, the classiest bb till date and not to mention the design and features of bb10. The overall experience is just perfect. The feeling you get when the phone's hardware perfectly matches the software. The bbm on video is fantabulous. Though the price is a little exxpensive, it is on par with the apple iphone in terms of handling and features. The touch, swipe, peek, flow gestures make it a phone for the future. The impressive handling makes you look ahead to the future of touch computing which is gestures. Plus what helped was, me saving up for this for 6months and the phone is every bit worth it

Here are the features I like:
- Easy-on-the-eyes design, looks as business-like as their famous qwerty phones
- Very handy size (for medium-sized hands)
- Solid yet lightweight look and feel
- Minimalistic design, which means less things will fall off, wear out or break off
- Gestures/swipes taken to the next level (proximity sensor works great, swipes to minimize to desktop, swipe to turn on the phone from standby, auto-complete typing with a swipe etc)
- Smooth screen motion
- Great email and phone access while multi-tasking
- Fast browser (generally fast phone)
- Voice control calling is better than many other phones
- Really important apps available and more coming

Opportunity missed, but nothing that some software upgrades cannot fix:
- easier contact list editing, copy/paste in the contacts mode
- contact-list/account sync-up with earlier models
- better contextual help
- screen rotation happens inconveniently sometimes

Overall, a 4.5 out of 5 for attempting what was thought impossible, which is to give A and S a run for their smart money.

HTC One E8 REVIEWS

E8 is a phone I was very eager to get my hands on , I owned a nexus 5 before that and I loved STOCK android and not a fan of the skins that other manufactures put on top of it and make it slow ...
I read in many reviews that e8 has sense 6 which is a very nice skin , it is very fast , fluid , simple and absolutely zero lag ... And after using it for days I'm saying , yes it is all true ...
The hardware ;The feel is really good , a bit tall but not An issue at all , I love it .
The display is very good , good viewing angles and can be used under direct sunlight ..
The boom sound speakers are the best , really the best , blows away all the rest .
It's like the good old days when you crank up the volume , you really enjoy the loud music and unlike the modern phones where only one person can hear the music when it's next to him :D
Camera is not as good as you would expect , it is not bad either ,, it's average , but most people will be satisfied with the results if they don't expect spectacular photos ..the white balance seems to the problem area , hope it's a software issue and gets sorted out,.
One thing all the smart phones these days lack is good battery life .. E8 has good battery life , can use for one whole day and in the night you'll have. 20% to spare ..
The phone is very fast , and no heating issues at all...
Although I'm not a heavy gamer .
A very good all rounder , i got it for 33750 .. I must say its a very good deal .
The fastest processor , dual sim , descent cam , very good battery life and solid build quality. Go ahead and buy , you will not regret it . The speakers are just awesome .
The extreme power saving mode can really help your phone go for 15 hours at least , after it reaches 10 % battery , and really will help a lot of people :)

Htc one e8 vs samsung galaxy s5

HTC and samsung competes directly with their plastic version

1. Processing power - Htc scores here. HTC uses Qualcomm Snapdragon 801, Quad Core.
This is the fastest processor available as of today but samsung uses exynos for indian market which is less faster than 801.

2. Display: Samsung uses super Amoled. The best display when compared to HTC IPS LCD display

3. Camera: Samsung uses ISOCELL technology which is lastest version samsung camera technology and pictures are awesome. HTC uses BSI sensors which is lesser in performance.

4. Speakers : HTC competes well here.

5. Software: HTC uses sense UI which is more fluid and interesting UI when compared to samsung UI.

6. Price : Both are almost the same now.

Asus zenfone 5 vs Moto g 2nd gen

                                             vs
Writing this review after using both the phone
I had bought the zenfone 5 just after the launch but after one month of continuous use I realized that it had some fault in the hearing speaker. I checked with my friends zenfone and it was perfectly OK.
After that I bought moto g new edition.
I am writing this one for helping the confused buyers considering the user experience and the things which are not compared/ highlighted in online reviews but matters a lot.

Design and build:
Both have the good build quality but I liked the moto g as it feels comfortable to hold. moto g is very soft on hand and for the same screen size its dimensions are less and thus easy to operate. Zenfone has a bigger form factor and the design is edgy so while holding in one hand or while talking its edges hurt.

Display:
Though on paper both have the same specs but the colors are more stunning and vivid on zenfone 5 it feels like an amoled screen. Moto g looks a bit washed out.

Processor:
Both have equally powerful processor not much difference.

Multitasking:
Though moto g has the less ram but as it runs vanilla android its requirement is also less so again it's equal in both and I did not find any lag in both.

User experience:
zenui wins here as it gives many enhancements over the STOCK android but after android l upgrade on moto g the situation will completely change.

Camera:
Camera in both the devices are equally good but the default camera app on moto g is pathetic. I installed Google camera app and its great.

Battery:
This is the biggest con for zenfone 5. I had to carry my charger all the time. The battery management of Intel processors is still novice. I was traveling on train with GPS on as I was traveling for the first time to this place and the battery ran down from 99% to 30% in just 4.5 hours and still 2 hours journey left. What's the use of such phone which doesn't help in such situations. moto g is satisfactory in this aspect if not great as Qualcomm professors are frugal.

Sound:
The sound in the Zenfone 5 is really very low and in this aspect the Moto G is way ahead. Moto G is a great media device.

The discission completely depends on buyer but for me the battery life is more important compared to any other features so I prefer moto g although a bit pricey.
